Comparison of Clozapine Treatment Effect between Korean-Chinese Patients with Schizophrenia

Abstract

|
The authors investigated the difference of the clozapine efficacy and adverse effects between the Chinese patients and korean patients with schizophenia, who were assigned, in a prospective design to clozapine for eight weeks. The overall
clinical
state
was assessed every two weeks until the 8th week using the Brief Psychiatic Rating Scale(BPRS) and the general clinical response impression by the physicians and nurses. Side effects were measured by clinical obsevation and laboratry tests such as
CBC,
urinalysis, liver function test, and EKG. Our results showed the therapeutic efficacy and side effects of clozapine between Korean-Chinese and Chinese patients with schizophrenia were not sigificantly different.
